E. Ogden Court – The Missing Middle

In Milwaukee, WI this mixed-use project offers a solution to the “Missing Middle” dilemma confronting cities across the USA.

On a 1/2 acre site on Milwaukee‘s East Side, Ogden Court proposes a mixed-use development with a strong residential component, office space befitting a small to mid-size company, and a corner cafe.

The mix of uses and and corresponding density leverages the adjacent light rail stop and off-site parking in order to reduce the number of required parking stalls onsite and create an urbane addtion to the neighborhood.

A mix of housing typologies, including row housing and triplexes, targets singles, couples, and families. This variety supports a flexible approach to market conditions allowing for both home ownership and rental units. Each townhome includes a ground floor office enabling a live / work arrangement.

Thick exterior walls make passive house construction possible. Wood-clad facades create a welcoming and unified aesthetic, while building heights and pitched roofs speak to the surrounding context.

Built area = 28,000 sf
Coverage = 0.45 / FAR = 1.4
