Our cities need more than buildings.
My favorite treatise on this theme is Jan Gehl’s book Life Between Buildings. Inspired by the ever greater need for a humane approach to building urbanity I returned to study, this time in Europe, to learn from cities built around public space and now using that legacy to manage contemporary urban challenges. Today I find myself part of a team working in Germany to create sustainable urban designs.
